Club Championship Round 1

Newsletter Editor

The first races of the season, and Races 1 and 2 of the Club championship, were run on Sunday in shifty, ENE conditions. With the wind swinging 180 degrees just before the start, the RO of the day, Geoff Golovsky, was seen scratching his head.

Race 1 saw Shake a Leg, steered by Emma Badger, sail a great race, picking the shifts early to establish a strong lead. She held on for the rest of the race and finished with a gap of over 2 minutes to the next boat. Infinity, skippered by Ed Story, came in 2nd, sailing a strong race. Back In Action, Sol Golovsky, finished in 3rd and Chicken Dinner, with Lachlan Keyte at the helm, in 4th.

Race 2 started in better breeze with a gentle, but building NE wind. Emma Badger again won the start and sailed consistently up the first work, picking the pressure, and rounding the top mark 1st. She displayed good boat handling around the course. Sol Golovsky returned to contention in Race 2, and kept the pressure on Emma, finishing only 29s behind. Ed Story came in 3rd, and Lachlan Keyte, despite lots of encouragement from the sidelines, came in 4th.

Club Championship Standings after Heat 1

1 Shake a Leg (Emma Badger) 2 points

2 Infinity (Ed story) and Back In Action (Sol Golovsky) tied on 5 points

4 Chicken Dinner (Lachlan Keyte) 8 points

Boat Storage

Newsletter Editor

For those storing their boats at the club, a reminder that it is a condition of storage that you are a financial member in the current season, and all your storage fees are paid up to date.

If you wish to keep storing your boat at the club, please ensure you renew your membership and pay your storage fees prior to the season opening on the 8th of October.

You can renew your membership here. You will be able to take out the appropriate storage for your boat during the renewal process.

If you no longer wish to store your boat at the club, please have it removed prior to the start of the season on the 8th of October to make room for active boats.

As all are aware, storage is limited at our small club, so we need to prioritises those boats that are actively sailing. As such, any boats stored after this time that have not paid for storage will be removed from the club, or, at the committee’s discretion, become club property for the use of members.

We appreciate your assistance and understanding with this matter.
